Hi, my name is Chuck Landon, and I'm an idiot.

Well, that's just my opinion, but I want this to be my coming out party. People have been saying I am an idiot for many years, but I think it is time to confirm that, and take it to the next level! You see, I don't really know that much about football. I played tennis in highschool. My M. O. has always been to stir the pot to generate some controversy and keep my readers coming back. In fact, how the hell did I get this job in the first place? I'm thinking someone in charge of the Charleston Daily Mail must have really been smoking the good stuff the day they hired me!
Anyhow, here's the proof of how big an idiot I am. One of my favorite things to do is to report something that is little more than a rumor, and sit back and hope it comes true. Well, in this case it didn't.

According to Marshall sources, ESPN approached WVU during a recent meeting in Charlotte, N.C., about moving the game from Sept. 2 to Sept. 3 at Mountaineer Field for a national telecast.
ESPN wanted the WVU-MU game to kick off its new Sunday college football weekly series.
WVU officials reportedly replied that they didn't think Marshall would be interested in playing a night game.
Considering seven of the Herd's 11 games started at 4:30 p.m. or later last season, a night game normally would be no problem. In this case, MU officials were reluctant to have Herd fans arriving home at 3 or 4 a.m. from Morgantown.

And luckily, Mitch Vingle was there to set me straight. Although it wasn't even the main part of his article, he was gracious enough to point out where I was wrong.

Parsons said a Charleston Daily Mail report that "ESPN approached WVU during a recent meeting in Charlotte, N.C., about moving the [Marshall] game from Sept. 2 to Sept. 3 at Mountaineer Field for a national telecast is incorrect.
"They floated out that they may be interested in the game," Parsons said, "but the idea of moving the game never came up until later."

You see Marshall sources aren't really that reliable when it comes to conversations involving parties not named Marshall. I should have seen that one coming a mile away, but you gotta remember, I'm an idiot!

Dude, you and I are working on the same wavelength. I saw the Chuck Landon article and the first thing I thought was "What an asshole". I grew up in Charleston and have always (and I mean A-L-W-A-Y-S) despised Chuck Landon. My disgust stems from him continually picking against my high school football team (even though we won state)...man I sound like the uncle in Napoleon Dynamite. Thanks for keeping it real.

Did you go to Stonewall, too? He was an ass then, and well, some things never change.
