Mountaineers Blast Savannah St.

I feel a little dirty for saying that, but it never was much of a game for the Mountianeers. They were able to cruise to an easy 76-41 victory Saturday afternoon at the West Virginia Coliseum. The win pushes West Virginia's record to 8-1.

The Mountaineers were lead by Joe Alexander with 18 points and Frank Young with 16. The Mountaineers shot 12-32 from three point range, and scored a +16 on the Beilein scale. Josh Obiajunwa led Savannah St. with 9 points.

My big concern is that we are blowing a lot of bad teams out right now, and the competition is going to go up 10-fold when the Huskies from UConn come to town on December 30th. But I'm finding it harder and harder to not be optimistic about this team. They are doing all the things that made the last two teams successful. Even in their one loss to Arkansas this year, they didn't look bad. They had clean shots at the basket, but just couldn't connect.

It's pretty safe to say that keeping John Beilein was very important. The guy can just flat out coach. No matter what the final record is for this team, West Virginia could be in for another coaching controversy at the end of the year. Hopefully we can handle it a little better this time. I got my lottery ticket, just in case.
