Mountaineers top Huskies 81-71

This was a game that I was a little worried about going in, but maybe there wasn't any reason. West Virginia was able to fight through the jersey-grabbing-high-elbow-swinging defense of UConn and secure the victory. And thanks to the announcers for finally saying something nice about John Beilein after the game was decided. Real classy. He doesn't just roll the ball out on the court and expect the athletic ability of his team to take over. He teaches his team the game of basketball. He should get a lot more respect than those that don't take the time.

But f%#$ respect. We won! I think everyone can see what a great player Da'Sean Butler is after his 16 point performance. He has the moves to the basket, and seems to be getting much more comfortable in the offense. Everyone on the team, most especially Rob Summers played a great game today. I'm sure there are still going to be times when West Virginia looses some head scratchers with as young a team as they are. But they didn't look like a young team today. Every time UConn got close, West Virginia was able to pull away.

Frank Young lead the team with 20 points, and Nichols and Alexander both played solid games with 14 and 12 points respectively. UConn is going to be better than what they showed today. They have some fantastic young players. This was their first road trip of the year, and yes that is entirely their fault. You can't play your first 11 games of the year at home and expect to go on the road in a hostile environment and expect to win. Like I said in my last post, UConn is going to be tested a lot over the next couple weeks. It's time for them to regroup, and time for this Mountaineer team to be in the top 25. Woop!
