UConn Open Thread

UConn comes in undefeated at 11-0. Like West Virginia, they have a lot of wins, but none against a top 25 team. This should prove to be a good challenge for both teams, or at least a good measuring stick. I'm curious to see if this is the number nine team in the country. I'm sure they are talented, but I don't know much about them because they haven't played anyone. We'll know a little something about them by the middle of January, though.

West Virginia is going to find out a lot about themselves as well. We've faced several uninspiring teams the past couple weeks and came away with big victories. This game will either launch us into the top 25 or send us back with pack of pretenders on the outside looking in. I'm not too concerned with falling back. I know they set high goals for themselves, but as young as this team is this should just be a point in the learning curve. I would much rather have them playing their best ball at the end of the year rather than the beginning.

Update: It's amazing to me that UConn was getting away with every ticky tack foul in the first half, and the announcers were completely cool with that. They called it UConn being agressive, and also had no problem with West Virginia getting fouls called for blocking nothing but ball. And now that West Virginia is up big again in the second half and Jim Calhoun is complaining, the announcers are showing concern with the way the game is being called? Why not just hook up with Calhoun after the game and felate him guys? We don't need to know how much you love him.
