BlogPoll Roundtable #2

This roundtable is brought to us by Bruce Ciskie over at the Ciski Blog .

1. What team best met your overall expectations of them in their opener?

To be honest,I didn't find a whole lot to be impressed with in week 1 from the teams I have at the top of the poll. Texas and USC looked very good, but a lot of teams didn't seem to dominate the lesser opponents they were facing. WVU's win over Marshall was very good, but it wasn't what I would call dominating.

2. What team jumped off the map and surprised you the most? (Bonus points to anyone who can make an argument for someone besides Tennessee.)

I would have to say Pitt winning the way they did. I thought they had a good chance to win, but that was really impressive. As far as top 25 teams go (outside of Tennessee), Louisville can score at will. That part isn't a shock, but after loosing Bush, they didn't seem to miss a beat.

Speaking of scoring at will, am I the only one that is a little put out that
this guy gets all he can handle?

3. What team best moved themselves into a position to surprisingly contend for a national title?

Everyone not named Cal and Oklahoma! I think a lot of people have to question their perception of the top 10 after seeing these two teams this weekend. Which in turn should make just about everyone else look good by comparison. Again, Texas and USC were by far the most impressive teams of the weekend. Texas has a great chance to solidify a number one spot this weekend, and USC can do the same with another effort like last weekend. And yes, Tennessee went from zero to contender with the win over Cal.
